When you think of Internet technology at high speed, most will think of T1. It's no surprise either being it has been around for decades as a business solution worldwide for fast Internet connectivity. As with all things tech though, even the most experienced network engineers will have to admit there has been a time where they have felt stumped when it came to effectively connecting a network regardless of the bandwidth.

Knowing that technology can be complex, many businesses may opt out of owning a T1 line to preserve peace and avoid chaos. This may result in some businesses outsourcing expensive colocation server services, settling for more unreliable DSL connections, and even paying more for their long distance phone service if shopping integrated T-1 services.

So how hard is it to set up a T1 Internet line? Well actually it's as simple as plugging in an Ethernet cable from your wall to your modem. Surprisingly that is all that needs to be involved on your end. The complexities of setting up the actual services and installing the technology to your POP (point of placement, location, etc.) is the burden of the carrier providing the bandwidth.

T1 has gone down in price significantly over the years in regards to leasing options. If anything is expensive about it then that would be the installation fee from the provider of the services and these fees will vary depending on your location. The closer in a metropolitan area you are, the better chances you will pay less for the installation of the last mile copper running to your business.

So that being said, if you are seeking to get a T-1 for your business Internet connectivity, you will want to know what options may be necessary for your particular situation and obtain the best pricing for your connection. This is probably the most important part of this entire lesson being it can save you a lot of money and pain when it comes to getting it set up. The best way to obtain low lease rates and set up fees without sacrificing reliability is to go through a telecommunications/bandwidth broker.

A broker will have a full list of providers for your area as well as be able to negotiate lower rates for your business without any cost to you. They on average offer free consultations for businesses as well to make sure you understand what technology you need and what can be fit into your budget. A broker makes their money from the transaction however because they are compensated does not mean you pay more, as a matter of fact, a broker will save you more money than if you went to the provider yourself. Make sure to ask your broker if you qualify for free hardware such as modems, routers, and switches. Many T1 providers these days have these options with different contract options.
